Our company has made it into the TOP 10 for the GreenTec Awards 2015 in the “Recycling & Resources” category with the topic “IC Process: Environmentally-friendly recycling of next-generation refrigeration units”. The GreenTec Award is Europe’s biggest environmental and business prize. Now help us win one of the most coveted environmental prizes in Europe by voting for our contribution from November 6, 2014 to January 11, 2015 online at! Your vote can play a decisive role in shaping the selection process: the project with the most votes automatically qualifies as one of the three nominees in the corresponding category. The jury then selects the winner from these.

The IC process
The IC process makes the recycling of refrigeration units significantly more economical than previously used methods, thus setting a new industry standard. The IC process was developed for the complete mechanical and thermocatalytic recycling of refrigeration units containing CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) or hydrocarbons. Compared to current technology, the procedure greatly minimizes environmentally hazardous CFC emissions while significantly reducing operating costs at the same time. Energy requirements will be further reduced by the increase in the number of pentane devices in the future as well as the use of pentane as an energy source for performing gas treatment operations. The process consists of three stages, two of which provide the procedure with its name: “IC” stands for the terms “Impact” (for mechanical crushing using impact force) and “Catalyst” (for catalytic oxidation of gases). The first stage is preliminary disassembly, the second stage is mechanical crushing, and the third stage is catalytic gas treatment. The IC process was developed by BHS in cooperation with Sülzle Kopf Anlagenbau GmbH in Sulz am Neckar, Germany.

The GreenTec Awards focus on recognizing innovative, green products or projects that show the way to a more environmentally friendly future. The environmental award provides a platform for green innovations and technology. The applicants for the coveted environmental prize include both renowned major companies as well as young innovators.

So vote for us and your favorite projects online now at and help make the world a little greener!
