At the glamorous gala event and awards ceremony of the 2015 GreenTec Awards held at the Berliner Tempodrom on Friday, the 29th of May 2015, Dennis Kemmann, Managing Director of BHS-Sonthofen and Peter Althaus, Director of Sales at SÜLZLE KOPF Anlagenbau GmbH in Sulz am Neckar, received prize certificates for the nomination and the second place in the "Recycling & Resources" category. This success becomes even more impressive, considering that more than 250 projects in ten categories were submitted for the 2015 competition, a third of which being international contributions from Europe, the USA, Asia and Australia.

For both companies, this award constitutes an important decoration for the development of an entirely new and pioneering process for the recycling of refrigerators and cooling devices. With the IC-Process, BHS-Sonthofen and SÜLZLE KOPF Anlagenbau jointly managed to develop a new technology for the efficient and environmentally friendly recycling of CFC and hydrocarbon cooling units. Unlike conventional processes, the cooling and propellants are thermally and catalytically treated, thereby eliminating their harmful effects on the climate. In addition to the excellent environmental balance, the process is also more economic as compared to previously used processes.

Europe's biggest and most important environmental protection and economics award was awarded for the eighth time. Among the 1,000 invited guests, there were many prominent guests from business, science, politics, culture and the media that walked across the "green carpet", one of the gala ceremony's hallmarks. The opening speech was given by Peter Altmaier, Head of the Federal Chancellery and Federal Minister for Special Affairs. Everyone experienced a gala ceremony filled with outstanding innovations, proud winners, prominent stage guests and music acts. Following the awards ceremony, the guests enjoyed a number of culinary highlights and exciting conversations in the foyer of the Tempodrom. Marco Voigt, the initiator of the GreenTec Awards, summarized the event: "This was the greatest and most ambitious awards presentation that we have ever hosted. We are well on our way to becoming the world's most prestigious environmental prize."
