Gas scrubbing serves the purpose of separating undesirable, usually acidic substances out of gas mixtures. Slightly alkaline, aqueous amine solutions are commonly used as the scrubbing agent but other chemical substances are used as well. During gas scrubbing, the scrubbing liquid removes any solid particles suspended in the gas flow at the same time. The scrubbing liquid is usually recirculated, undergoing chemical and physical regeneration. Gas scrubbing is implemented in petrochemical plants, in the processing of natural gas and in flue gas desulfurization.

When physically regenerating the scrubbing agent, it is also necessary for solid particles extracted from the gas flow by the scrubbing agent to be filtered out again. Our candle filters have proved ideal for this application. They operate fully automatically and reliably. Separation of the filter cake too is automated.

We also supply complete filtration plants. These plants are of modular design, which facilitates transport to the respective locations and shortens the on-site installation time.

Located in the South East of Turkmenistan is the Ýolöten gas field (also known as the South Yolotan gas field), one of the five largest natural gas fields in the world. Development of the gas field and the necessary refining of the raw gas to produce marketable natural gas require, among other things, an appropriate treatment plant for the crude gas. Incorporated in this plant is gas scrubbing by the sweetening amine process. The acidic gaseous constituents of the crude gas such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide are absorbed and removed in an amine scrubber. A circulating amine solution is used as the scrubbing liquid. For regeneration of the amine suspension, BHS candle filter systems are employed to clarify the scrubbing liquid. Solid particles (e.g., due to piping abrasion and dust) are reliably filtered out, resulting in considerable lengthening of the scrubbing suspension life.
