Crushing of burnt lime
Crushing of burnt lime

In crushing burnt lime, extremely large crushing ratios are often necessary. With our rotor impact mill (type RPM), feed grain sizes of up to 120 mm can be reduced to the desired final size in a highly reliable fashion in one process step.

The rotor impact mill features many adjustable parameters (speed, gap width) so that the desired grain-size curve can always be achieved. This machine can also easily withstand the high temperatures that typically characterize the input material.

Using a rotor impact mill for grinding burnt lime

The intention was to rationalize the primary comminution of burnt lime in the 0√120 mm particle size range in a German lime and cement plant. This had previously been carried out with an impact mill, and the specific aims were to increase the comminution effect and reduce the machine running time. BHS-Sonthofen decided to use an RPM 1113 rotor impact mill for this purpose. The BHS RPM 1113 rotor impact mill, fitted with a 110 kW motor, is capable of comminuting 25 t/h burnt lime of particle size 0√120 mm. This produces approximately one third 0√0.09 mm fine lime and two thirds 0.09√2 mm.
The throughput capacity and size reduction ratio achieved with this machine are significantly higher than the previous values achieved with the impact mill. This means a saving in machine running hours, i.e. in energy and wear costs.
